A Circle of Facilitators
A level 4 (advanced) group facilitation skills training course.
Learning together with your peers
Each session someone new is leading us,
and we give time to a different participant’s case clinic.
WHAT’S INVOLVED?
1. The best way to learn is to teach
Each week is led by a different participant who brings to the session a facilitation process / topic they are exploring. We won’t know what the content of these course ‘chapters’ will be until we meet up for the first time.
Participants might choose to present a session on:
- What they know: to deepen understanding of their existing practice
- What they want to know: to explore a new area for future practice
2. Seek support for your challenge in case clinic
The session facilitator will lead a case clinic (approx. 45 mins) supporting a fellow participant to explore a challenge or growth area that is current and live for them.
Participants might choose to use some of the following case clinic (case conferencing) models:
WHAT’S IN SESSION ONE?
We get to figure things out
Likely we’ll have a conversation to explore the following:
- Agreements for safety
- Giving and receiving feedback
- Format suggestions for opening, reviewing and closing sessions
- Learning topics to be explored
- drafting an initial schedule for who leads when
CORE COURSE VALUES
Some agreements to make the space safe
- Participants are responsible for their own learning.
- Because we are learning together, our relationships are important.
- Feedback is lead by the receiver.
- We learn through teaching, and we learn through sharing our challenges.
- The group owns the format, so the rest we can figure out together.
The course leaders are convenors, not conductors nor coaches.
WHO IS IT FOR?
.
If you’ve been facilitating for a while, and you’re looking to find a supportive group to give you helpful feedback on your practice and style, then this course is for you.
