Listening Workshop
listening is leading
WHAT’S THE INTENTION?
To empower both the speaker and ourselves, the listener, through listening properly.
WHY ARE WE DOING THAT?
Not being heard can cause frustration, resentment and hurt. Through listening, we can avoid that.
Listening, truly listening, is difficult. This is because there are so many distractions (internal and external) to real listening. Some people even treat conversation as competition. Actually, we’re probably all guilty of that.
WHAT’S THE BENEFIT(S)
Mastering the craft, and skills, of listening empowers you to support, lead and influence while earning trust, as well as to praise and persuade with authenticity.
WHO’S IT FOR?
Anybody over 17 years of age. (It’s a difficult topic!)
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Through activities exploring:
- Barriers and obstacles to listening
- Indictors showing when we’re not listening
- Non verbal communications
- What to listen to and what to listen for
- How to reflect back and paraphrase
- Empathy, and what it is / what it is not
- Listening in groups
